But what are infused pre-rolls and how do they differ from other joints on the market?
Infused pre-roll basics
Pre-rolls are ready-to-smoke cannabis joints you can find at any local weed store, including our North Bend area dispensary. They’re filled with ground cannabis and wrapped in a rolling paper. Similar to a cigarette, you just light the end and inhale.
Infused pre-rolls are similar, but with some extra pizazz. Put simply, infused pre-rolls are filled with ground weed like regular pre-rolls but include a boost of cannabis concentrates. This makes them much more potent than regular pre-rolls.
What are cannabis concentrates?
Cannabis concentrates are made by extracting chemical compounds from the cannabis plant. This results in a much more potent product than the cannabis plant itself.
Concentrates can be made through extraction using solvents like ethanol or butane, or through the use of heat or pressure. You’ve probably seen cannabis concentrates if you’ve visited our dispensary near Issaquah or any other retail store. Common concentrates on the market include budder, crumble, and live resin.
Cannabis concentrates originate from the medical market, where many people use them for their high potency to combat pain and other symptoms. Today, recreational users love concentrates because they are extremely potent and effective.
What do infused pre-rolls feel like?
We often recommend infused pre-rolls to customers who have a high tolerance or for people celebrating a special occasion. They make great gifts for weed-loving friends who love an opportunity to get higher than usual.
Infused pre-roll effects can range quite a bit depending on the strain and quality. If you haven’t tried them before, we recommend just taking one or two puffs and seeing how you feel before finishing the whole thing. For the uninitiated, they can be really, really potent.
If you’ve smoked regular pre-rolls before, you can get a general idea of how an infused one might feel. Take your regular pre-roll experience and at least double the potency. Most pre-rolls range from somewhere between 10 and 30% THC, whereas infused pre-rolls can reach more than 90% THC. That’s a huge difference.
These products can sometimes be a bit harsh, especially when compared to a typical pre-roll. Burning cannabis concentrates can produce a harsher smoke, so be prepared to inhale slowly and carefully when trying infused pre-rolls.
When to use an infused pre-roll
As we mentioned earlier, infused pre-rolls are great for special occasions. Instead of popping open a bottle of champagne, you can light up a super potent joint to get in the celebratory mood. Just make sure everyone knows the pre-roll is infused; you don’t want to accidentally get people too high without their knowledge.
These products are also a good option for those with high tolerances or anyone who wants something that will get them much higher than usual. Sometimes you just need an extra boost, and infused pre-rolls are a great way to get that without sacrificing the typical smoking routine. Just make sure you pick out a strain that you like and that aligns with your goals. For example, an infused indica pre-roll would be great for a night in relaxing, whereas an induced sativa strain may be better for an outdoor adventure.
We don’t recommend trying out infused pre-rolls for the first time in situations where you may need to be super social or functional. While they certainly can make these situations more fun, they also can get you super high and you may regret the experience.
